UST Creation and Editing
CV-C comes with a preset for AutoCVVC 1.23 to make USTing as painless as possible. For a tutorial on downloading and using AutoCVVC 1.2 in English, click here.
Creating UST from MIDI/VSQ/VSQx
- After importing the MIDI/VSQ/VSQx, select a line of notes. I recommend doing small segments at a time. Enter the CV lyrics first, either by hand or with the use of the IroIro plugin.
- Open AutoCVVC, load the preset that comes with the reclist, and press "OK" to create VCs.
- Add [C -] notes where necessary.
- Create the necessary VC blending notes for the [C -] notes by clicking the right end of the note and dragging to create a rest the size of the following note's envelope (see below). Then, double click the rest and add the VC lyric/ If the bank is otoed properly, this will always create notes of the proper length. Entering CCs is done in the exact same way.
- Add [- C] at the begining of the line using the same method as the one for the VCs.
- BE ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN TO SET THE MODULATION OF THE ENTIRE LINE TO ZERO AFTER DOING THIS.
- Select the line and press "P2P3 and ACPT" at the top right of the utau interface. DO NOT USE P1P4.
- Tune as normal.
Editing Pre-Existing USTs
This section will cover how to manually convert usts, however useful plugins and add-ons to said plugins exist to make this process easier. You will still need to manually edit parts of the ust to suit the system.
The process for manually editing pre-existing usts to fit the system is much the same as the previous method. If it is a VCCV/CVVC UST, you can edit the lyrics to fit the system's phonetics and then adjust the note lengths according to your bank, or you can select all of the notes in the syllable and press CTRL+U to merge them, and start from scratch as shown above.
For Japanese VCV and CV USTs, the only thing you need to do is use AutoCVVC to convert the ust to a CVVC format, and then manually account for CCV notes such as きゃ (kya).
